The Northumberland Triathlon up at Druridge bay is one of our favourite tri’s in the region and today was no exception and the event seems to be growing every year. Credit to the dedication of the Vo2 Max Event team.
A drizzly grey start to the day met most of the competitors at the very crack of dawn to make the journey from far afield throughout the region. The weather didn’t improve much for the duration of the racing and drizzle and light rain made cycling quite hazardous, however unusually light airs for the coast compensated (6-7mph from the north).
Great Turn Out
Tyne Tri turned out a great team of 12 athletes 8 in the Sprint and 4 in the Standard. Which is a fantastic turn out guys!!
Also Ian Sanderson was racing under Tyne Tri colours too !!
Special mention also has to go to Robert Lambert on the completion of his first ever open water triathlon in preparation for his massive undertaking in June of Edinburgh IRONMAN 70.3 … Good luck Rob !!!
The sprint team scooped three trophies in the sprint which is great testament to the effort in training and dedication to be able to stand out convincingly in such a decent and large field ..
Super Vintage Male
Don Shotton Triathlon Master and legend showing that there is no reason to ever stop and is an inspiration to us all. Great work Don and keep leading the way …
Roger Elliot showing that he’s a great asset to the clubs prize winning capability !!
Arabella Pearce happiest on the podium and today was no exception a storming swim and bike and sterling run !! Cracking stuff…
The next great local race will be Spanish City by TRI this is a great event and I’d like to encourage as many Tyne Tri members to enter en masse again … See you there ..
